What To Expect

Below are some questions that have been asked of us.  Maybe you are wondering about the same things and these answers will help you get to know us a little better.  Mostly, what we want you to know is that The Rock is really about two things:

Loving God (This love compels us to strive to know Him more and to make Him known to others)
Loving Others

We are working hard to do these two things really well. We know that we’re not perfect, but are extremely thankful that God continues to work in and through us!

What should I wear?

At the Rock, you can dress up or dress casually.  Either way, you will fit in.  We’re much more concerned with you personally and your needs than with what you wear.

What is available for my children?

Children and youth are highly valued at the Rock!   We go to great lengths to insure their safety and security.  All who work with our children and youth have completed background checks.

Classes for all age groups are offered on Sunday mornings (9:15 a.m. – 9:55 a.m.):

* Infants-preschool: Meet in the nursery/classrooms located just behind the sanctuary.  They will be received with great care, signed in, and a security bracelet placed on them.  You will also be given a security bracelet that will identify you when you come to pick up your child(ren).

* Kindergarten – High school:  Classes are located in the Rock Annex (which is on the south end of our building – on the other side of Sam’s Sport Shop).

Infants, toddlers, and pre-schoolers are cared for in the nursery facilities during morning worship.  All other children join us for worship in the Sanctuary.  Children, kindergarten – 2nd grade, are invited to Children’s Church (located in the Annex). They will leave the service with their leaders at the noted time in the service and you will pick them up at the Annex after the service.

What do I do when I get to the church?

You can expect to be warmly greeted upon your arrival and to be treated to refreshments at The Rock Cafe.  Members of our First Impressions team will gladly help you find a seat in the Sanctuary, find a classroom for your children or an adult class for yourself, and answer any questions that you may have.

What should I expect in worship?

You will be offered the opportunity to participate in a corporate worship experience with The Rock church family. We draw near to God and express our adoration for Him through contemporary praise and worship music and prayer. A Biblical message, grounded in God’s Word, is offered to help us learn more about who God is, who He created us to be, and how He wants us to live in this world.

Am I expected to give money when the offering baskets are passed?

No, we never want our guests to feel pressured to give.  The offering time is an act of worship for our church family.  It is a time when we can give back to God as He has so abundantly given to us.

I don’t understand everything about Jesus, I’ve made some poor choices, and my life is a mess.  Will I still be welcome at The Rock?

Yes!  You will be welcome at The Rock where there are no perfect people and no perfect lives.  Not one of us has all of the answers.  Hopefully, that is a relief to you.  We are all on a journey – learning more about who God is and becoming more and more like Him.  Every one of us needs for God to change us from the inside out.  Please know that God doesn’t expect you to get it all together and have the perfect life before you come to Him.  He loves you!  So, come just as you are.  We, at The Rock, would love to journey with you.
